I welcome you to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Jos, Jos, Nigeria. This Faculty started in the year 2014 with the admission of the first set of undergraduate students who graduated in 2022 with the Induction (Oath-Taking Ceremony) taking place on the 24th of November, 2022 at the Faculty’s multipurpose auditorium.
The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine currently has seven (7) well-equipped Departments and a well-equipped Veterinary Teaching Hospital. The Faculty comprises forty-two Full Time Academic Staff and several Visiting and Sabbatical Staff with many Administrative and Technical Staff in each Department and the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. We run the undergraduate Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) Programme. We also run postgraduate programs in all the various Departments.
The research focus of the Faculty is “Diagnostics, Drug and Vaccine Research and Development”. The Faculty currently has three research grants focusing on Vaccine Research and Development. Other research themes and teams are evolving to include many more staff and students of the Faculty.
