Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology

The Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology came into been in 2014 just like any other Department in the Faculty. However, active lectures started in 2017 when our pioneer students were in 300 levels because both Microbiology and Pathology units of the Department are Para-Clinical courses that engage the students academically from 300 levels-600 levels.

The Veterinary Microbiology unit deals with the diagnosis of bacterial, mycotic and viral diseases, while the Veterinary Pathology units deals with disease diagnosis both in living and dead animals through evaluation of blood, serum, urine, tissue biopsy and exfoliative cytology in the living animals and postmortem examination of dead animals through gross, and histopathological examinations and confirmation of diagnosis through laboratory evaluations.

We have competent and highly motivated academic staff and academic technologists who diligently carryout the said duties among others.

The Department is happy to announce its readiness to fully commence its postgraduate courses at both MSc and PhD levels upon approval of the already submitted postgraduate curriculum by the NUC, hopefully by September, 2023.
