AGORA - ACCESS TO GLOBAL RESEARCH IN AGRCULTURE

The AGORA programme, set up by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) together with major publishers, enables developing countries to gain access to an outstanding digital library collection in the fields of food, agriculture, environmental science and related social sciences. AGORA provides a collection of up to 15,500 key journals and up to 48,000 books in more than 115 countries. AGORA is designed to enhance the scholarship of the many thousands of students, faculty and researchers in agriculture and life sciences in the developing world. AGORA is one of the five programmes that make up Research4Life: AGORA, HINARI, OARE, ARDI and GOALI.

ACM DIGITAL LIBRARY

The ACM Digital Library is a research, discovery and networking platform containing:

The Full-Text Collection of all ACM publications, including journals, conference proceedings, technical magazines, newsletters and books.

A collection of curated and hosted full-text publications from select publishers.

The ACM Guide to Computing Literature, a comprehensive bibliographic database focused exclusively on the field of computing.

A richly interlinked set of connections among authors, works, institutions, and specialized communities.

AFRICAN COMMONS

African Commons is a project to digitize, disseminate and discover African Cultural materials. The aim is to enable Africa to easily control, digitize and disseminate its archival riches – those within Africa and items residing internationally. The project helps to preserve African content and enable African scholars to easily find and access expressions of their heritage in western collections. The University of Jos is the only University that has been given access to the beta site.

The materials in this database span several centuries and may contain content that’s harmful or difficult to view. They have been presented as part of the historical record so they can help society understand and learn from the past.

 

AFRICAN ONLINE DIGITAL LIBRARY

AODL provides free universal access to cultural heritage materials from and about African countries and communities. It brings together tens of thousands of digitized photographs, videos, archival documents, maps, interviews and oral histories in numerous African languages, many of which are contained in curated thematic galleries and teaching resources.

AODL is aimed at a broad international constituency, from university researchers and secondary school teachers to individuals seeking to inform themselves about African people on the continent and in the diaspora.

Support researchers in developing countries in creating and developing new solutions to technical challenges faced on a local and global level.

GOALI - Global Online Access to Legal Information is a new programme providing free or low-cost online access to legal research and training in the developing world.

Academic and professional peer-reviewed journals, publications and databases in selected subject areas of law from the world's leading academic publishers for Researchers, students, librarians, policymakers, judges, legal experts through their institutions in 115 low- and middle-income countries . And All institutions registered for any of the Research4Life programmes  can access all of the programmes' portals, including GOALI.

HINARI – Health Internetwork Access to Research Institute

 Hinari offers access to thousands of journals, books, and other information resources in biomedical and health sciences topics.  The journals and books can be searched through a special version of PubMed (Medline) and through other databases.

At its launch in May of 2000, HeinOnline sought to provide the authority of print with the ease of online access. HeinOnline’s first online database, the Law Journal Library, marked the platform’s initial entry into the online research community. Since then, the Law Journal Library has grown to include nearly 40 other disciplines, in addition to law, and has become a resource relied on by millions.

The Database of African Theses and Dissertations (DATAD) is a programme to improve management and access to African scholarly work. It is an abstracts database containing information from 11 African institutions, some as far back as 1982.

Welcome to the UNESCO Digital Library website.

The UNESCO Digital Library is a key tool for enabling UNESCO’s mission of building peace in the minds of people, in particular by “advancing the mutual knowledge and understanding, and encouraging cooperation among the nations in all branches of intellectual activity, including […] the exchange of publications, objects of artistic and scientific interest and other materials of information” (UNESCO Constitution).

In more concrete terms, it provides access to publications, documents and other materials either produced by UNESCO or pertaining to UNESCO’s fields of competence. These collections are accessible online or physically - at the library or the archives room.

The UNESCO Digital Library is constantly enriched with new publications and documents produced by UNESCO, as well as with acquisitions, resources shared by other institutions and donations. Furthermore, new digital materials are produced daily under a major ongoing project “Digitizing our shared UNESCO history”, which allows to preserve and share thousands of collection items, previously unavailable electronically. They will be integrated in the UNESCO Digital Library in the near future.

 

The UNESCO Digital Library is the repository of UNESCO’s institutional memory and a source of high-quality information on UNESCO activities (in education, natural sciences, social and human sciences, culture, and communication and information), with more than 350,000 documents dating back to 1945. It includes the collections of the UNESCO Library and several documentation centres in UNESCO’s Field Offices and Institutes, as well as the UNESCO Archives.
