PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT
WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY (WED) CELEBRATION 2024
The Faculty of Environmental Sciences and the Anthony Nyong Climate Center of Excellence, University of Jos in conjunction with the Nigerian Environmental Society (Plateau State Chapter), Plateau State Ministry of Environment, The Shift initiative & Coalition of Biodiversity Conservationists, cordially invite Staff, Students, members of the University community and the general public to the celebration of the World Environment Day with the Theme “Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience”.
This year’s celebration will feature several activities including:
- A round table discussion to proffer nature-based solutions to the theme (1hour).
- Tree planting exercises within the Naraguta Campus (1hour).
The programme will take place as follows:

Time: 9:30 am
Venue: Faculty of Law Lecture Auditorium (Red Chamber) Naraguta Campus
Special Guest: Arc Samuel Nanchang Jatau – Secretary to the Government of
Plateau State (SGS)
Host: Professor Gideon Baklit – Dean, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, University of Jos
Chief Host: Professor Tanko Ishaya FBCS, FNCS – Vice-Chancellor, University of Jos
