- Candidates applying for MSc Programme shall hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Agriculture, Pharmaceutical Microbiology or relevant allied degree Programme from University of Jos or any degree awarding institution recognized by the senate of University of Jos.

- Candidates from other fields other than Veterinary Medicine with a Third-class degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, and other relevant allied courses from National Universities Commission (NUC) accredited University, and with a minimum of three-year post qualification experience may be admitted after obtaining a postgraduate diploma in Microbiology with a minimum CGPA of 3.5 on a 5-point scale and 2.5 on a 4-point scale. The eligibility and acceptance of such candidates for admission shall however be determined by the Postgraduate School and Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Postgraduate Committee, University of Jos.
- Candidates applying for Doctoral Programme must have a minimum of 5 credits in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and any other relevant science subject at O’ Levels. Applicant shall obtain a minimum CGPA of 4.0 at Master’s degree in Microbiology or any other relevant allied courses. Candidates who did not meet the entry requirement of minimum CGPA of 4.0 at Master’s degree may however be admitted after undergoing M.Phil/PhD programme, in which he/she must score a minimum CGPA of 3.5 on a 5-point scale and 2.5 on a 4-point scale. The eligibility and acceptance of such candidates afterwards for PhD shall however be determined by the Postgraduate School and Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Postgraduate Committee, University of Jos.
