ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR MASTERS (M.Sc) PROGRAMME IN SOCIOLOGY:
The criteria for admission into the M.Sc. Sociology programme are as follows:

- Candidate must satisfy the matriculation requirement of the University of Jos which is 5 O’level credits including English Language, mathematics, and two social science subjects (Government, Economics and/or Geography).
- Candidates with Second Class (Lower Division) Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from an approved University or the Postgraduate diploma with a CGPA of not lower than 3.0 on a 5-point scale from an accredited university. Candidates with a PGD in Sociology at credit level pass on weighted percentage average.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR Ph.D PROGRAMME IN SOCIOLOGY:

- Meet the matriculation requirements of the University of Jos of 5’Olevel Credits including English Language mathematics, and two social science subjects (Government, Economics and/or Geography).
- Possess Masters Degree in Sociology or Criminology with a CGPA of at least 3.5 on a 5.0 point scale or a weighted system average of 60% on the scale of 100.
- Demonstrate adequate intellectual capacity, maturity and effective decision making and problem-solving potentials.
- Submit a concept proposal of not less than 5 pages in the applicant’s area of specialization.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA (PGD) PROGRAMME IN SOCIAL WORK:

- Candidates must satisfy the matriculation requirement of the University of Jos which is 5 o’level credits including English Language Mathematics, and any two social science subjects.
- A Third Class (Hons.) Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related disciplines awarded by an approved and accredited University.
- HND and/or professional qualifications cognate to Social Work from a recognized institution with not less than Upper Credit.
