Welcome to the Department of English, University of Jos. The department houses courses in English Language and Literature in English as well as Oral Literature. We have a team of well nurtured and committed academic and non academic staff, who are dedicated to nurturing and moulding the next generation in these fields of study. You are welcome on board with us as we navigate the language and literary world.

  • Give students grounding in an effective mastery of the English language in its various applications to produce skilled and inspiring users of good English.
  • Produce graduates who possess an informed literary stability and necessary tools to respond adequately to any literary stimulus; such graduates with adequate knowledge of the full range of major landmarks in African and non- African literature in English of all genres and periods.
