ICPC RATES UNIJOS HIGHLY FOR EFFICIENT SERVICE DELIVERY AND INTEGRITY
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has rated the University of Jos highly for the University’s exemplary commitment to efficient service delivery. The ICPC commendation comes after a rigorous assessment exercise conducted between May and June 2024, evaluating various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies across the country, following which the University was awarded a Substantial Compliance score of over 70%.
In their evaluation, the ICPC employed the Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (EICs) and the Anti-Corruption Transparency Unit (ACTU) Effectiveness Index (AEI) to analyze the University’s operational documents. The Commission’s findings indicate that the University of Jos has demonstrated Substantial Compliance with the Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard and has achieved a "Very Effective" status on the Anti-Corruption Effectiveness Index, underscoring the institution's robust frameworks for promoting ethical practices and integrity.
In a letter addressed to the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Tanko Ishaya, ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu, SAN, commended the University for its achievements and encouraged the University Administration to maintain the high standards already attained towards ensuring consistency in service delivery which is vital for continued trust and success.

Reacting to the commendation, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tanko Ishaya expressed delight at the recognition and praised the dedication of members of the University community in attaining the feat. For Professor Ishaya, the achievement is a testament to the hard work and commitment of Staff and Students and urged them to continue to uphold these standards and strive for excellence in all their endeavours.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, University of Jos remains committed to fostering an environment of integrity and accountability thereby ensuring that it not only meets but exceeds the expectations of its stakeholders. He assured that the institution will continue to build on the momentum garnered to further enhance its service delivery and operational effectiveness.
Meanwhile, the University of Jos Anti-Corruption Unit (ACTU) has introduced a series of proactive measures designed to enhance accountability, encourage ethical behaviour and operational efficiency in the University. These initiatives underscore the University’s unwavering resolve to uphold the highest standards of integrity and transparency in line with the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission charter.
To improve reporting mechanisms and facilitate the transparent communication of any concerns regarding the University, Unijos ACTU has deployed 30 suggestion boxes across the various campuses. This is in addition to the introduction of dedicated contact options, including a new email address (actu@unijos.edu.ng) and phone numbers (09163786910, 08078569929), established in collaboration with the University’s ICT Directorate. These channels will enable members of the University community to report issues easily and confidentially.
Furthermore, ACTU is actively working towards creating a domesticated code of conduct tailored specifically for University Staff, which will serve as a guiding framework for ethical behaviour and accountability within the institution.
