
The newly appointed Librarian Prof Victoria Ladi Lawal is the 6th university librarian of the University of Jos. Until her appointment she was a lecturer with the Library and Information Science Unit, Department of Social Science Education Faculty of Education university of Jos. Prior to moving to the LIS program Prof Lawal has worked in the University of Jos Library from 1995 to 2016 and had headed different sections of the technical and support services of the Library.
Prof Lawal holds a Bachelor of Library Science from the University of Maiduguri, Nigeria, Masters in Law and Diplomacy from the University of Jos, Nigeria, Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, a doctorate degree in Information Studies from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
Prof Lawal has also been a senior research fellow at the University of Fort Hare, South Africa. Prof Lawal has published papers widely and presented in different countries including the United States, the United Kingdom and other African countries.
As the first female professor of LIS in the University of Jos and in Plateau State, she brings her wealth of experience in both theory and practice to bear for the development of the University of Jos Library.
