UNIJOS PROMOTES 18 TO THE RANK OF PROFESSOR

Eighteen (18) Academic Staff of the University of Jos have been promoted to the rank of Professor in different disciplines. The promotion which took effect from 1st October 2022, is the outcome of the Institution’s promotion exercise as considered and approved by the Appointment and Promotions Committee (Senior Staff), Chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tanko Ishaya.

The Academic Staff promoted to the full Professorial rank are Dr Sunday Joshua, Professor of Computational/Numerical Mathematics; Dr Kums Ponfa Dombong, Professor of African History; Dr Gushit John Stephen, Professor of Analytical Chemistry; Dr Janet Plang Punyit, Professor of Gender Studies and Gerontology; Dr Okoli Chinwe Kate, Professor of Refugee/IDPs Law and International Humanitarian Law; Dr. Dadughun Sauaryi Isa, Professor of Test & Measurement; Dr Abok Ibrahim Ishaya, Professor of Paediatric Endocrinology/General Paediatrics; Dr Iornum Hembe Shambe, Professor of Gynaecological Oncology; Dr Rikko Samuel Laraba, Professor of Urban Planning; Dr Shaibu Samson James, Professor of Veterinary Microbiology and Dr Pam Adamu Audu, Professor of Intellectual Property Law/Sociology of Law.

Others are Dr. Mangset Emmanuel, Professor of Radiation Biophysics/Medical Physics; Dr Bukata Bukar, Professor of Pharmacology/Ethno Pharmacology; Dr Bodang Juliana, Professor of Special Education (Learning Disabilities/Rehabilitation Sciences); Dr Attah Bala Galle, Professor of Mathematics Education; Dr Sule Halima Mwuese, Professor of Family Medicine and HIV Medicine; Dr Mai-Lafia Mary Dimis, Professor of Public Personnel Management and Dr. Ogbonna Abigail Ifeanyi, Professor of Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology.

Similarly, the University’s Appointments and Promotion Committee (Senior Staff) has approved the appointment of Twenty-four (24) Academic Staff from the rank of Senior Lecturer to Reader (Associate Professor) in the University with effect from 1st October, 2022.
