The Doctoral program in Conflict Management and Peace Studies at the Centre for Conflict Management and Peace Studies (CECOMPS) is designed to offer scholars rigorous academic and practical training in conflict resolution and peace-building. The curriculum encompasses advanced research methodologies, foundational concepts, and practical strategies in conflict resolution, empowering students with analytical tools to assess conflict dynamics, formulate interventions, and contribute to academic discourse. Specialized courses explore diverse dimensions, including indigenous African approaches to conflict resolution, intersections of gender development, roles in peace-building, religious ideologies, and the complexities of industrial relations within conflict contexts. Additionally, emphasis is placed on understanding trauma's psychological and socio-emotional impact, exploring therapeutic interventions and resilience-building strategies.

Furthermore, the program culminates in a comprehensive research thesis, enabling students to synthesize their academic coursework, research insights, and practical experiences under faculty supervision. Through this rigorous research endeavor, scholars demonstrate scholarly proficiency, contribute substantive insights to conflict management and peace studies, and advance innovative strategies for fostering inclusive, equitable, and sustainable peace-building initiatives on local, regional, and global scales.
