Press Release

UNIJOS ISSUES DISCLAIMER ON FAKE ACADEMIC CALENDAR BEING CIRCULATED

The attention of Management of the University of Jos has been drawn to misinformation circulating on various social media platforms, specifically, a fake revised Undergraduate Academic Calendar for the 2024/2025 Session which is being widely disseminated.

The fake document falsely attributed to the University Administration and purportedly signed by the Director of Academic Planning and Management, Professor J.P. Chollom, erroneously indicates that the University's new Session will commence on 23rd September, 2024.

Management wishes to clarify that this document is entirely fabricated and did not originate from any official channels within the University.

Management urges all members of the University community and the public to be vigilant and to only rely on verified information from the University's official communication channels for any official announcements, including those connected to Academic and related matters.

Meanwhile, Senate of the University of Jos has approved the extension of the commencement of the University’s 2024/2025 Academic Calendar by a few more weeks. This decision was made at the 1st Regular Meeting of the University Senate for the 2024/2025 Academic Session.

The extension comes in response to observed delays in the release of the 2024 O’level results, which have disrupted the timelines previously scheduled for the conduct of the Post-UTME and Direct Entry (DE) Screening Exercise. These delays have particularly affected the 2024 JAMB set, making it challenging for some eligible applicants to participate in the screening exercise.

To address and mitigate these challenges, the Senate has approved this extension to ensure that all eligible applicants seeking admission into the University of Jos have an equal opportunity to participate in the screening process without disadvantage.

The University Administration appreciates the understanding and patience of returning Students, prospective Students, and members of the public during this period and assures of the University’s commitment to operating a smooth Academic Calendar and inclusive admission process.
