Dr. Elijah Akintunde is a Scholar of the African Union. He holds a joint PhD in Environmental Management with the Premier University of Ibadan and the Pan African University of the African Union, PAULESI. He obtained his Master’s degree from the University of Ibadan and his B.Sc from the University of Jos, both in Geography. His interests are in environmental quality, waste and environmental management, noise pollution, land degradation, resource depletion, environmental education and climate action. He has published numerous research articles including the widely cited Theories and Concepts for Human Behaviour in Environmental Preservation. He was the founding President of the African Union Club (PAULESI). He serves as the faculty mentor of the University of Jos Youth Mappers, a chapter he pioneered which has won grants and several fellowships for student members. He is the head of research at the Anthony Nyong Climate Center of Excellence, and a member of the steering, planning and implementation committees of the Messiah University of Science and Technology. He has successfully led several research projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders. He is recipient of the of the 2023 James Kweku Global Mentorship Award. He currently serves in various capacities alongside mentoring students in the University of Jos. Dr Elijah Akintunde has over 10 years teaching & research experience.
