Entry Requirement for Law Librarianship:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 credit passes in O' level Mathematics, English Language and any other applicable subject. Applicants shall hold a first degree with a minimum of a second class lower division in law (LLB) of the University of Jos or any other University with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 on a 5 point scale.
Admission Requirements for PGD in Library and Information Science (PGDLIS)
The following categories of students may be admitted:

- Graduates of the University of Jos or other approved universities who have a Bachelors degree, second class (lower division) with a minimum of GPA of 2.50 on a 5-point scale in disciplines other than Library and Information Science
- Graduates of this University or other approved universities who have a third class degree with a GPA of at least 2.00 on a 5-point scale in Library and Information Science.
- Graduates with HND in Library and Information Science with at least upper credit pass level in an approved institution.

Admission Requirements for Masters in Library and Information Science (MLIS)
The criteria for admission into the Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) programme are as follows:

- Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 credit passes in O’ level Mathematics, English Language and any other applicable subject.
- Applicants shall hold a first degree with a minimum of a second class lower division of the University of Jos or any other University in LIS and other relevant allied courses with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 on a 5 point scale.
- Candidates with third class degree or HND from any recognized University or institution in LIS and other relevant allied courses with three years’ post qualification experience may be admitted after obtaining a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD). The eligibility of such candidates for admission shall be determined by the Postgraduate School Board in consultation with the Department.
- Holders of Bachelor’s Degree in LIS of the University of Jos or other recognized university with a GPA of at least 2.50 on a five point scale or 50%.
- Holders of a Postgraduate Diploma in LIS with at least Upper credit division.

Basic Admission Requirements for Doctoral Degree in LIS
Candidates for PhD admission must satisfy the following conditions:

- Candidates must have five credit passes including English, Mathematics and three other relevant subjects at 'O' Level.
- Candidates with Bachelor’s degree from an approved university must obtain a minimum of second class lower division with a CGPA of 2.5/5.0 or its equivalent.
- Candidates must have Academic Master’s Degree in relevant areas with a CGPA of 4.0/5.0 and thesis score not lower than 60% (B) or its equivalent.
- Candidates must demonstrate adequate intellectual capacity, maturity and effective decision making and problem solving potentials skills.
- Holders of a Masters Degree in LIS from the University of Jos or other recognized university with a GPA of at least 4.00 on a 5-point scale (3.0 on a 4-point scale) or 60% or its equivalent are eligible to apply.
