Antele Ruth Jambol-Ayuwa is an upcoming researcher who holds two Master’s degrees, one in Environmental Resources Planning from the University of Jos, Nigeria, and the second in International Development Studies from Universite Grenoble Alpes, France, and is currently concluding her PhD in Political Ecology at Universite Grenoble Alpes as well. Her specializations are in Rural Resources Development and Planning, as well as Political Ecology and Environmental Justice. Antele is a member of the Association of Nigerian Geographers (ANG), a graduate member of the Association of American Geographers (AAG), a member of the Nigerian Environmental Society (NES), a member of the Association of Women in Science and Technology (UniJos Chapter) and a graduate member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).
Antele’s research interests have been more focused on rural development issues, especially the contribution of rural infrastructure to development of rural areas. These have formed the major subjects of her research from undergraduate to Masters levels. Currently, her attention has shifted slightly towards political ecology and environmental justice issues with regards to natural resource exploitation especially in Sub-Saharan Africa and Nigeria in particular, which is the crux of her PhD thesis. She started her teaching career of 13 years from the position of a graduate assistant a year after graduating from the University of Jos with an award for the best female graduating student of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences in the 2005/2006 graduating year. Before being nominated for a French Government scholarship to proceed for further studies, she participated in teaching several undergraduate courses and field excursions with Undergraduate and Masters students, as well as supervised over 15 undergraduate projects, participated at national and international conferences, and has 8 publications and conference papers.
