Elijah I. Nep is a professor of Biopolymers and Formulation development with active research interests in the developing of biopolymers for pharmaceutical applications. He obtained the B. Pharm degree and M.Sc (Pharmaceutical Technology) from the University of Jos. He was a Commonwealth Ph.D Scholar (2007-2010) at Aston University, UK where he worked under the supervision of Prof. Barbara R. Conway, to develop a pharmaceutical grade excipient from the polysaccharide of Grewia mollis. Following his PhD, he returned to the University of Jos where he worked for two years. In 2013 - 2015, he was a recipient of the Newton International Fellowship grant sponsored by the Royal Society, UK, returning again to the UK to take up the post-doctoral position under Prof. Alan M. Smith in the University of Huddersfield, where he worked developing renewable resources for Pharmaceutical applications. He is a recipient of several other awards and grants including the prestigious Fulbright Research Scholar (2020) award tenable at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, USA, Support of Training and Mentoring in Nigeria for Academics (STAMINA), and the TETFund Institutional Based Research (IBR) and National Research Fund (NRF).
