Charles Naanpoes Dawang is an Associate Professor of Agricultural Economics who lectures at the Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension, University of Jos, Plateau State. He started his lecturing job with Plateau State College of Agriculture and later worked as a research fellow at the National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI). His research interests include agricultural systems analysis and impact evaluation studies, and quantitative and applied econometrics analysis. He has participated in various impact assessments, including a World Bank-assisted FADAMA 111 AF in Plateau State and a World Bank-assisted Commercial Agriculture Development Program (CADP) in Kaduna State. He has also worked as an M&E officer with the research team that implemented the Monitoring and Evaluation, Result-Based Management for Sustainable Improvement of Meat Innovation in Nigeria (SIMPROMEAT) Project. Dr. Dawang joined the Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension, University of Jos in 2017 and has served as a faculty examination officer from 2018 to 2023.
Charles Naanpoes Dawang is an associate Professor of agricultural economics and lectures at the Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension, University of Jos, Plateau State. Dr. Dawang started his lecturing job with Plateau State College of Agriculture in 2003, before moving on to be a research fellow at the National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI), and adjunct lecturer at the Department of Agricultural Economics Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State.
While at NAPRI, he was the assistant program leader of Livestock System Research (LSRP) program and also involved in the teaching of both undergraduate and postgraduate students of Agricultural economics Department. He holds a Ph.D. in agricultural economics (agricultural resource development) in 2012 and his research interest has been in agricultural systems analysis and impact evaluation studies, quantitative and applied econometrics analysis. He participated in the impact assessment of a World Bank assisted FADAMA 111 AF in Plateau State, 2016 and the Impact assessment of World Bank assisted Commercial Agriculture Development Program (CADP) in Kaduna State in 2017.
He also worked as the M&E officer with the research team that implemented the Monitoring and Evaluation, Result Based Management for Sustainable Improvement of meat innovation in Nigeria, (SIMPROMEAT) Project- a USAID funded project under the feed –the- future program, in 2014, Root and Tuber crop Expansion Program, (RTEP), West African Agricultural Productivity Program,(WAAPP), Dr. Dawang’s recently expanded his research interest to include the situational analysis and assessment of Agro- livelihood, nutritional and food security impact pathways of households involved in the adoption of the agricultural innovations which has given me an opportunity to understand practical evaluation methods in agricultural economics and extension research.
Dr. Dawang joined the department of Agricultural economics and extension, university of Jos in 2017 and has served as faculty examination officer from 2018 to 2023, he has also served as external examiner for undergraduate students at DAC/ABU Zaria and for postgraduate students at University of Makurdi. Dr. Dawang is a Christian and happily married to Mrs Helen Dawang and blessed with two children.
