Research Interest:  Rural Development, Biomass Resource Utilization for energy/electricity generation and sustainable Agriculture.

Professor Gideon Baklit, Dean Faculty of Environmental sciences, University of Jos, Nigeria, is a staff of the department of Geography and Planning. He is a professor of Rural Development and has worked as a consultant on some development project's spanning over agriculture and farm service centres in Plateau State, Nigeria. He was a team leader of a three-year research collaboration with Kings College London from 2000 to 2002.As a follow up to the Linkage, he was invited in 2012, to Loughborough University in the United Kingdom to present a paper on the stage of Biomass Energy development in Nigeria. He has a PhD in environmental Resources Planning from University of Jos. He has research interest in Biomass Energy, especially, Biomass-based electricity generation, Agriculture and rural development. Some of his publications include; Baklit G. (2019). Biomass Energy and the Development of Rural Niger. Proceedings of the 13th Biofuels and Energy and thank 14th Global Summit and Expo on Biomass and Energy. August 26 -27, 2019 Vienna, Austria. Some of his research work include the Remodelling of Farm Service Centres as Building Blocks for Value Chain Addition Agricultural production in Plateau State Nigeria and the Prospects and Barriers for the Adoption of Biomass-based Electricity Generation in Nigeria.
