STANDARD EQUIPMENT ENHANCES EFFECTIVE SERVICE DELIVERY - UNIJOS VC

Service Personnel whose activities have direct impact on society must be better equipped to ensure that they deliver their services efficiently and with utmost professionalism.

Vice-Chancellor, University of Jos, Professor Tanko Ishaya stated this when he hosted Personnel of the Federal Fire Service, Plateau State Command and Officials of the Northern States Christian Elders Forum on separate courtesy visits at the Vice-Chancellor's Conference Room, Senate/Administrative Building, Naraguta Campus.

Professor Tanko assured that the University will provide Personnel of the Federal Fire Service stationed at the University with the necessary equipment that will help them respond swiftly in case of any emergencies.

Earlier, Plateau State Comptroller of the Federal Fire Service, Iribom Kurutsi said the visit was to congratulate the Vice-Chancellor over his appointment and said the Command is committed to ensuring that lives and property are safe from fire outbreaks within and outside the University Campuses.

He stressed the need for fire prevention measures to be prioritized among members of the University community and other citizens and advised that professionals should be allowed to handle the Fire Extinguishers deployed at various points in the University for effective fire management.

Also receiving officials of the Northern States Christian Elders Forum, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jos, Professor Tanko Ishaya enjoined believers to always pray for good leadership, peaceful coexistence and tolerance among the diverse groups that make up the country.

The Vice-Chancellor explained that two new Principal Officers had been appointed for the University following his emergence as Vice-Chancellor including Professor Rahila Gowon as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Dr Rejoice Songden as Registrar and therefore the Administration requires prayers and cooperation from all stakeholders in order to succeed.

Speaking earlier, spokesperson of the Forum, Elder Bulus Itse said their visit was to felicitate with Management of the University over the emergence of Professor Tanko Ishaya as Vice-Chancellor while also seeking ways of collaborating with the University in terms of promoting peaceful coexistence between the University and its neighbouring communities.
