TRCN Commended for Improving Teaching Standard



Officials of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) have paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos, Professor Seddi Sebastian Maimako.

Briefing the Vice Chancellor on their visit to the Institution, the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Council, Professor Josiah Olusegun Ajiboye said they were at the University to induct Graduates of the Faculty of Education into the Council as members.

Professor Ajiboye disclosed that since he became the helmsman of the Council, he had not attended any induction ceremony in any University due to his tight schedules but felt the need to attend the University of Jos' induction ceremony because the University had distinguished itself in the training of quality professional teachers.

He observed that the institution has keyed in passionately into the mainstream activities of the Council while the performance of the Students has put the University in the limelight.

Professor Ajiboye appreciated the University Administration and the Faculty of Education for impacting greatly in the lives of the Students and called for the standard already attained to be maintained.

Responding, Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos, Professor Seddi Sebastian Maimako thanked the Council Registrar for making the University his first port of call for such an important assignment since he assumed office.

The Vice Chancellor who was represented by the University Librarian, Dr. Thomas Akinbayo Adigun described it as a rare privilege to receive such a high-powered delegation from the TRCN and commended the Council for its efforts towards the upgrading of Teachers’ welfare and improving their professional skills and competences.
