NEW UNIJOS REGISTRAR ASSUMES DUTY
Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jos, Professor Tanko Ishaya has described the emergence of the newly appointed Registrar of the Institution, Dr Rejoice James Songden as putting a round peg in a round hole saying she has acquired the requisite knowledge needed to support the University attain higher heights
Professor Tanko was speaking shortly after the Registrar took over affairs of the Registry Department from the Senior Deputy Registrar, Senate Affairs and Admissions, Mr. Solomon Anjugu who was oversaw affairs in the Registry before the new Registrar fully assumed office.
The hand-over ceremony which was held at the Registrar's Boardroom in the Senate/Administrative Building, Naraguta Campus brought together some Staff of the Registry Department, the immediate past Registrar of the University, Chief Monday Danjem, Vice-Chancellor, Karl Kumm University, Vom, Professor Nanven Gambo as well as family, friends and well-wishers of the new Registrar.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ishaya stressed that he has no doubt in the ability of the new Registrar to deliver on her mandate and advised the Staff to accord her all the support needed to ensure she discharges her duties optimally.
Also speaking, Vice-Chancellor, Karl Kumm University, Vom, Professor Nanven Gambo said he enjoyed a cordial working relationship with the new Registrar while she served in his institution and encouraged her to remain committed and focused on her duties. Professor Gambo advised the Dr Songden to carry everybody along and work with utmost sincerity.
New Registrar of the University of Jos, Dr. Rejoice Songden described her emergence as an act of God and a collective victory while appreciating Council and Management for giving her the opportunity to serve in that capacity. She thanked her predecessors and Senior colleagues for imparting in her the knowledge required to perform her duties and promised not to disappoint them.
The new Scribe promised to work within the provisions of all Policies, Laws, Rules and Regulations of the University to guide her in the day-to-day Administrative work.
Presenting the Handing-over Notes, Senior Deputy Registrar, Senate Affairs and Admissions, Mr. Solomon Anjugu who handled affairs in the Registry Department before Dr Songden fully assumed duties, appreciated the Governing Council and Management of the University for giving him the opportunity to serve in that capacity.
Dr Rejoice James Songden who, until her appointment, was the Registrar of the Karl Kumm University, Vom was also a former Deputy Registrar in the Senior Staff Establishment Division of the University of Jos.
She becomes the first female to be appointed as Registrar of the University of Jos and 7th Substantive Registrar of the University.
