PRESS RELEASE

CIRCULATION OF FAKE UNIJOS REVISED ACADEMIC CALENDAR

The attention of Management of the University of Jos has been drawn to a fake revised Academic Calendar being circulated on some social media platforms claiming that the University will resume activities for its 2020/2021 Academic Session in January, 2023.

The fake notice which is purportedly signed by the University’s Director of Academic Planning and Management, Professor J.P. Chollom is riddled with so many inconsistences which makes it quite obvious that the information contained therein is intended to misinform and mislead members of the University Community especially our Students and Staff as well as members of the public.

For the avoidance of doubt, any revised Academic Calendar and all Academic matters concerning the University can only be approved by Senate of the University before it is made public. However, Senate of the University of Jos is yet to meet and approve a revised Calendar for the 2020/2021 Session.

Members of the public may wish to recall that Management of the University had only approved the continuation of Registration exercise for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students of the University for the 2020/2021 Academic Session preparatory to the full resumption of Academic activities. This is pending when a meeting of Senate would be convened to decide on a revised Academic Calendar which will contain the date that Lectures and other Academic activities will officially commence.

Management further wishes to assure members of the University Community and the public that they will be adequately informed of Senate’s decision at the appropriate time and through the proper channels.

Signed

Abdullahi Abdullahi
