The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jos, Professor Seddi
Sebastian Maimako has assured

the National Agency for the Control of Aids (NACA) of the University’s
readiness to deepen and

strengthen its collaboration with the Agency in the campaign to create
awareness on the control

and spread of HIV and Aids. The Vice-Chancellor made this known
when he received a

delegation of NACA officials led by Dr. Effiong Enoh in his office. He
thanked NACA for

collaborating with the University through its Youth Friendly Centre and
urged the Agency to

continue to work closely with the University for the promotion of
activities relating to the control

of the spread of HIV and AIDS.

Speaking earlier, the leader of the NACA delegation, Dr. Effiong Enoh
explained that the visit

was a supervisory one to assess the activities of the Youth Friendly
Centre in the University

which was established in March, 2006. He described the activities of
the Youth Friendly Centre

in the University as a success story and hoped the University will
continue to consolidate on the

achievements recorded so far.

He made it clear that the activities of the Youth Friendly Centre in
collaboration with NACA

have been instrumental to the reduction in cases of HIV and AIDS,
especially amongst Students

in tertiary institutions. He told Management that NACA has four (4)
major components of its

activities, with its primary concern on HIV testing and Counseling. Dr.
Enoh appealed to the

University Administration to consider the project as a key project by
giving it its full backing and

support, stressing that any resources generated from the project
would be ploughed back to the

University.

The occasion featured a symbolic presentation of copies of the Youth
Friendly Centre Standard

and Operating Procedures to the Vice-Chancellor and Management,
while the Vice-Chancellor

presented a souvenir to the leader of the delegation.
